Where we started
Brian Groat (ClaroLux® President and CEO) has decades of experience in the landscape lighting industry. Starting out as a contract installer, Brian recognized a need for high quality, domestically produced landscape lighting fixtures that were available factory direct to dealers.
Determined to address the challenges that lighting installers face, ClaroLux was launched in 2004. ClaroLux began manufacturing specification grade outdoor lighting fixtures that are Designed by Contractors, for Contractors. As a contractor, Brian realized that there was a need for serviceable, durable, and affordable systems.
Placing focus on adjustability and the highest build quality, rather than the static effect of other fixtures on the market at the time, he was able to create lighting plans that precisely highlighted the natural beauty and ambiance of outdoor spaces.
Brian utilized the industry knowledge he obtained as a contractor to develop the industry’s most innovative fixtures, that continue to solve common landscape lighting problems.
ClaroLux designs and manufactures proprietary luminaires that solve specific landscape lighting challenges.
For example, path lighting can be intrusive and obvious. Noticing a demand for a more subtle
look, we designed the SWL1-III Specialty Wash Light – featuring a very low-profile and perfect beam angle for pathways at the ground level. We strive for innovation in all areas of landscape lighting.
Why we stand out
ClaroLux designs and manufactures proprietary luminaires that solve specific landscape lighting challenges. For example, our patented SWL1-III Specialty Wash Light which can be used to illuminate pathways with a low profile fixture that doesn’t protrude unattractively.
ClaroLux lighting products are a permanent addition to any commercial or residential landscape. At ClaroLux, fixture components are machined using premium non-ferrous materials such as C110 Copper and C360 Brass bar stock. These high grade metals stand up to rust and corrosion, and patina beautifully over decades.
Our landscape lighting systems are built to last and can withstand the harshest outdoor elements. ClaroLux landscape lighting fixtures will maintain their beautiful exterior finish and structural integrity due to the material quality and expert construction.

ClaroLux is a proud Member of Association of Outdoor Lighting Professionals (AOLP) which was originally established in 2001 as the Low Voltage Lighting Institute of the Americas (LVLIA). The mission of AOLP is to establish standards, educate industry professionals, and increase awareness of the outdoor lighting industry. AOLP is a trade association whose membership consists of contractors, manufacturers, lighting designers, landscape architects, and distributors from all over the U.S. and Canada.
